Crafting in Season: Beltane Blessing Bundle

A small sacred gift to honour the blooming season.
Blessing bundles are little hand-tied gatherings of plants, flowers, and intention. You can hang one over your door, tuck it on your altar, offer it to the land, or give it to a friend as a token of love and renewal. At Beltane, they carry the energy of protection, passion, fertility (of ideas, gardens, and dreams), and joy. There’s no strict “right” way to make one — but here’s a simple guide to get you started.
Supplies
- Fresh or dried herbs Choose based on meaning, scent, or what’s growing near you. Some beautiful choices for Beltane:
- Rosemary (protection, remembrance)
- Lavender (peace, love)
- Thyme (courage, cleansing)
- Hawthorn blossoms or leaves (a sacred Beltane plant)
- Mint (vitality, clarity)
- Yarrow (boundaries, healing)
- Wildflowers or petals (joy, beauty)
- A strip of natural fabric or twine
- Cotton, wool, or linen in a colour that feels like spring — white, green, gold, pink. This will be used to bind your bundle.
- A small piece of paper or parchment (optional)
- For writing a prayer, intention, or simple blessing to include
- A quiet space and a little time -- this is just as much ritual as it is craft.
Instructions
- Gather with presence. As you collect your herbs and flowers, do it slowly. Whether from your garden, kitchen, or wild spaces, gather with care and gratitude. Notice what’s calling to be included. Beltane energy responds beautifully to intuition.
- Set your intention. Before you begin tying, pause and hold your bundle-to-be in your hands. What are you asking for? Protection? New growth? Creativity? Love? You might whisper it aloud or simply breathe it into the herbs.
- Write a wish. (optional) On a small slip of paper, write a word or sentence that captures your Beltane blessing. Fold it gently and tuck it among the herbs.
- Tie your bundle. Arrange your plants into a little bouquet — small enough to hold in one hand. Bind them tightly near the base with your ribbon or twine, wrapping it three times around if you'd like to honour the triple aspects of the season: body, heart, and spirit. Knot it with intention.
- Bless it. You might pass it through incense or candle smoke, place it under the sun for a few hours, or speak a few simple words:
- May this bundle carry the light of Beltane. May it bless what it touches and remind me to bloom.
Ways to Use Your Blessing Bundle
- Hang it above your door or window for seasonal protection and joy.
- Place it on your altar or near your bed to invite sweet dreams and fresh inspiration.
- Offer it to the land or leave it at a sacred tree as a thank-you to nature.
- Gift it to a friend or loved one as a handmade spell of hope.
As the bundle dries, it holds the story of the season — a quiet reminder of all that is growing, inside and out.
